Ivor Callely’s "Short Cut Cost Him Hugely," Says Barrister |
 At the trial of Senator Ivor Callely, his barrister Michael O Higgins, S.C. said that his client had "taken a shortcut in giving bogus receipts which had cost him hugely in political and personal terms." The former senator and junior minister was sentenced to five months in prison by Judge Mary Ellen Rign for fraudulently claiming mobile phone expenses while a member of the Oireachtas. He fraudulently claimed a total of 4,207.45 using six invoices.
